Beautification Enhancements
Leveraged Investment Opportunities for
Urban Core Economic Development
In 2017, SCLC-GKC partnered with the Urban Summit's leadership of "One City", known also as "Central City Economic Development Sales Tax Initiative." This program accumulates approximately $100 million available for leverage investment around and along the MLK BLVD for enhanced economic, job, and housing development.
Enhanced Funding & Beautification
from City of Kansas City, MO Park Board Funds
Because Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. runs along a 10-mile stretch of KC's boulevard system, it will receive ongoing funding for maintenance and beautification through the KC Parks & Recreation Board.
{This would not be true if 63rd St. or
the KCI airport terminal were chosen.}

KC's Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd is a "Cut Above" other streets in major metropolitan areas named after Dr.King,as historic districts, local black business owner investment, and stable housing ownership by blacks and whites and brown exist on the boulevard. Dr. MLK Jr. Blvd is situated in the urban core, where neighbors in the 3rd and 5th districts love and care for one another and where there is a will and desire to keep the neighborhood clean and safe.
